The 'Model Cloth'

Once a dear disciple sent Sri Satgurudev a parcel. It contained a piece of cloth. Sri Maharaj Ji reacted to this gift with a letter in verse:




If u must gift,then gift a cloth
that covers the naked body in such
a way that it removes from it
blesmishes of birth and death
wrought by the wheel of time.

With yoga as warp,truth as woof
The weaver weaves a patient motif,
using the shuttlle of love,
The mind pulls tight
the texture with the force of breath.

The cloth weaved is thick and close,
Put neatly togetherwith the stroke of dispassion.
Only traders conversant
with the value of God Name
Buy this cloth,measuring it daily with
the degree fo love sickness.
The brilliance that this cloth is displaying
cannot be described in words.
Even if you search in the three worlds,only the rare one would be found
who can pay its proper price.

Every one who buys this cloth
and washes in the Triveni,(confluence of three rivers) of the mind;
Will find the filth of all three fevers removed,
And his true efforts rewarded.

This valuable cloth has been sewn
by the tailor Satguru
after the yogic joining together of two parts
Of Surat(inner attention)
and Nirat(movement of breath)
With discrimination as needle
and attention as thread,
this difficult yoga has been attained.

Only a rare gentle one
with love trained towards guru;
Can wear this indivisible cloth
Made of eternal Nirvana sound.

At the feet of such a one,
Says Mangat,he would
Forever offer his love.

After writing this inspired letter,Maharaj Ji gave away the cloth to Bhagat Banarasi Das(His beloved disiciple). He also instructed that a letter be written to this "Satsangi"(Disciple) never to send any gift by post. Whatever has to be offered must be personally presented.
